| 초록1 | 본 연구는 특허에 대한 보호강화가 기술혁신에 대한 유인책으로 작용하였는가를 우리나라 제약산업을 대상으로 알아보았다. 거래소에 상장된 31개 제약기업의 1991-2008년 사이의 패널(panel) 자료를 이용해 실증분석한 결과 특허보호강화는 기술혁신의 유효한 유인책으로 작용하지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기술혁신비용의 증가가 기술혁신 유인효과를 상쇄시켰기 때문인 것으로 보인다. 기업규모는 연구개발에 대한 지출과 유의한 양(+)의 상관관계를 나타냈으며 정부의 R&D보조금은 기업의 연구개발 촉진에 기여한 것으로 나타났다. | ||||||
| 초록2 | This study investigates the impact of stronger patent rights protection on technological innovation of pharmaceutical industry in Korea. The empirical study was conducted using a panel data set of 31 pharmaceutical companies that listed on the Korean Stock Exchange between 1991 and 2008. The estimation result shows that stronger patent rights protection does not act as a statistically significant incentive for technological innovation of pharmaceutical companies. This may happen because the increased cost of innovation might offset the positive impact of increase in R&D expenditures used for the development of new drugs. Firm size showed a positive and statistically significant impact on R&D expenditures. The government subsidy on R&D also contributed to the technological innovation of pharmaceutical companies. | ||||||
