초록1 국민소득 2만 달러 시대를 넘어 4만 달러 시대에 진입하기 위해서는 창업가정신의 발현이 중요하다고 알려져 있으며, 이러한 시대적 흐름에 편승하여 여러 연구자들이 창업가정신에 대한 연구를 수행하여 의미 있는 결과를 도출하였다. 일부 배치되는 연구결과에도 불구하고 대다수 선행연구들은 중소.벤처기업의 창업가정신이 기업성과와 유의적인 영향 관계가 있음을 밝히고 있을 뿐만 아니라 창업가정신과 시장지향성, 시장지향성과 기업성과 간의 관련성을 규명하여 중소.벤처기업들에게 경영상의 중요한 시사점을 제공해 주고 있다. 그러나 연구대상 선정에 있어서 대부분 중소.벤처기업에 치중함에 따라 96% 이상을 차지하고 있는 소기업에 대한 가시적인 연구 성과를 찾아보기는 쉽지 않다. 본 연구는 선행 연구에 대한 검토를 토대로 소기업을 대상으로 창업가정신과 시장지향성, 창업가정신과 기업성과, 시장지향성과 기업성과간의 관련성에 관한 연구모형을 설계하고, 그 모형을 구성하고 있는 요인들 간의 관계를 실증적으로 검증하였다.
실증분석 결과, 창업가정신은 시장지향성에 대해 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나 기업성과에 대해서는 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 시장지향성은 기업성과에 대해 유의적인 영향을 미치고 있으며, 창업가정신과 기업성과 간의 관계에 있어서 완전매개효과를 보여 주고 있음이 실증적으로 검증되었다.
초록2 This study is an empirical research on the effects of CEO's entrepreneurship and market orientation on firm performance in small-sized business firms. The CEO's role in the small-sized company is of great importance; the company's success or failure is up to the
CEO.The results from this study are as follows: First of all, the hypothesis regarding the influence of small business CEO's entrepreneurship on market orientation has turned out to be adopted. Secondly, the hypothesis regarding the influence of small business CEO's entrepreneurship on firm performance has turned out to be rejected. Thirdly, the hypothesis regarding the influence of market orientation on firm performance turned out to be adopted. Finally, the hypothesis regarding the mediating role of market orientation on the relation between entrepreneurship and firm performance turned out to be adopted.
Above findings suggest as follows: To solve the problems regarding the lack of material resources in the small-companies, CEOs have been required to excavate and foster entrepreneurship and market orientation.
